I now have in stock a high quality, custom designed, woven carbon fiber bow (for now this is available for violin only) from another manufacturer that has many of the playing characteristics of the Arcus bow, including light weight manuverablity, and a rich core sound. It is less extreme in the weight reduction, and much less expensive. It is a wonderful bow that I am excited to be able to offer to my customers as an alternative. Arcus bows are not a better version of your old bow, nor can they be compared with any other bow, old or new, wood or synthetic. All of the bows shown below are the Original Arcus Bows, which include the Gold Cadenza, Silver Cadenza, Concerto, Sinfonia, Vega, Allegro, and Sonata. These are the superior carbon fiber bows, manufactured in Austria, that made the line famous, and we are pleased to be able to provide you with these meticulously hand-crafted carbon fiber bows.
Please note: There are currently three new lines of Arcus bows being imported (S-, M-, and P- Series), but these are not the Original Arcus line. In our opinion they are a sub-standard product, now being manufactured in a completely different facility from the original plant in Austria. The Original Arcus bows are still available from the distibutor of the Original line, and they are all listed below.
Ricardo Cyncynates, Assistant Concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington DC has been using his Original Austrian-made Arcus bow for several years. Here's what he has to say: "I have owned a number of very fine French and English bows and none have had the outstanding playing and sound characteristics of the Arcus bow. It is almost impossible to find a bow with which to play a delicate and light piece and a heavy and loud one with the same easy refinement and comfort as with my Arcus bow. The quality of sound is wonderful and leaves nothing to be desired".
Lynn Harrell sent a video birthday greeting to Orlando Cole on the occasion of his teacher's 100th birthday. Lynn performs a little bit of Chopin using his Original Austrian-made Arcus bow.
